Speakers at Torbay EcoFest 2 Dec 2023
November 20, 2023The climate crisis and concerns about the environment are no longer somewhere else in the world. They now affect us here in Torbay. Everyone has a part to play, however influential or modest, and we are all important. It starts with understanding what is happening and then knowing what practically and realistically can be done by each of us.
On Saturday 2nd December there will be an EcoFest at St Matthias Church, Babbacombe Road, from 12 o'clock until 4:30 PM. Everyone is invited to a free day of talks, displays and family activities focusing on the impact of climate change and what we can do to care for the environment globally and locally. Find out more about what is being done and leave inspired by what each of us can do.
There will be speakers on the national perspective and from environmental officers of Torquay Council, from Torbay Climate Action and many other organisations. Torbay is sea, coast and land. Speakers will talk about our marine environment, our coastline and our agriculture.
There will be a number of stands and information from local organisations including local people representing national organisations. This is expected to include Devon Wildlife Trust and representatives of water authorities. Exeter Community Energy will be on hand to give advice about energy-saving and reducing energy bills and answer questions about renewable heating. If any local organisation would like a stand to explain more about what they are doing for environmental awareness and change locally, please get in touch.
In the evening at 7:30 PM, there will be The Big Quiz with proceeds going to the climate work of Tear Fund. Last year was great fun and a good amount was raised for this important work. So form a team and come along.
